    Hollywood Riviera

One of the most charming communities along the coast in the South Bay is the Hollywood Riviera neighborhood. Typically considered part of Redondo Beach, this bustling yet easy-going area actually has a Torrance address with a Redondo Beach zip code.

‘The Riviera’ as it is commonly referred to, is located at the northern edge of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, South of Pacific Coast Highway, and West of Hawthorne Boulevard. Many of the homes in this section of Torrance enjoy ocean or city light views, and close proximity to the sandy beach. The homes between Calle Mayor and Calle de Arboles offer incredible views to the beach and Palos Verdes for a fraction of the price. Read More

Homes on average here can fetch between $700,000 for a condo, and up to $3.5 million for a home with stunning views. This section is made up of a combination of apartment complexes, condo buildings, and single-family homes. Rivaling Manhattan Beach Strand homes, Paseo de la Playa currently holds the Beach Cities record for a home sale at $22.65 million for a double lot.

The relaxed vibe of this seaside neighborhood is evident. Along The Esplanade, locals are constantly out-and-about getting exercise or going for a stroll, while enjoying breathtaking views. The famous RAT (Right After Torrance) beach is located here, which is a beautiful stretch of sand that’s typically a bit less crowded and has the cliffs of the Palos Verdes Peninsula for a scenic backdrop. RAT Beach is a great mellow spot to surf, cast a fishing line, or just soak up the rays on a lazy afternoon. Likewise, visiting one of the area’s many wonderful parks. Rocketship Park is perhaps the most well-known park due to its incredible ocean and city views, which set the perfect scene for a picnic.

Teetering on the borders of both South Redondo Beach and the Hollywood Riviera is the lively Riviera Village. This delightful six-block radius is a hub of entertainment where locals and visitors from all over like to dine, drink, or detox. Here, one can fine-dine at long-standing Chez Melange or devour a baseball steak at the famous, yet infamous Bullpen. Likewise, sip a pint while sitting outside at the South Bay’s first ever “parklette” roadside patio at the Rebel Republic while watching bikers, shoppers, and beach-goers pass by. Before cozying up to a cocktail, residents can get fit at one of the many exercise facilities like Rockit Body Pilates or rejuvenated at one of the eight spas. Woven throughout The Riviera Village are art galleries, boutiques, nail shops, and modern conveniences like Trader Joe’s and a plethora of business offices from doctors to law firms.

Events held in and around The Riviera Village offer a convenient and safe way for families and friends to gather for a variety of special occasions. A weekly farmers market is held every Sunday from 9:00AM-2:00 PM, and seasonal events like The Riviera Trick or Treating and the Riviera Village Stroll at Christmas draw droves of people out to mingle, shop, and be merry.

The Hollywood Riviera is a peaceful community. As a result, the locals here know how to relax, and enjoy the charmed life in this walkable laid-back seaside neighborhood.
